Best way to learn how to play stellaris11/10/2023 I didn't search the wiki for the ideal event outcome or best possible ship build, my Very Strong (but not Intelligent) militarists outfitted every single ship with the trash bombardment augment because they would find that hilarious. I stopped making decisions because they were the optimal choice and provided the best bonuses, I made decisions because it's what my race of weirdly aggressive yet well meaning xenophiles would do. I loaded one of those "roleplay" empires up not so long ago, and out of curiosity, turned on Ironman. But I didn't play them, they were set dressing. I'd create roleplay heavy empires, with sub-optimal traits that fit an internal narrative, sure. From my perspective, I was playing optimally- my empire had the more ships and resources in the midgame than any other empire would reach deep into the lategame. I'd build a race, play around a bit, and lose interest. Quicksave/Quickload for the optimum results was a standard. I'll break the intended experience so badly that the game wouldn't be recognizable to its most dedicated developer. I'll spend hours on forums and wiki pages creating optimal builds for games I haven't even played yet. TL DR: Turns out Stellaris is a lot of fun when you go full narrative-driven experience.
